The Guardian of the Sun is a chosen member of the People of the Day, who maintains the balance of the planet and also is the watcher of seasons. The Temple of the Sun serves as the Guardian's home, where he is assisted by the stony warrior Krrrack.
When it is time to retire, the Guardian appoints a prearranged successor, who is then acknowledged by the Sun itself. One such way is exposing the new Guardian to the Sun's concentrated rays of light. Afterwards, the former Guardian passes on and transforms into a statue in the Hall of the Sun Temple.
